The Flint Firebirds have temporarily filled the General Manager position.

Flint Firebirds' head coach, Ted Dent, will now be taking on some extra duties within the organization. On top of being the head coach, Dent will now take on the role of interim General Manager. Coach Dent has made a tremendous impact on the team since being named head coach in June of 2021. The Firebirds are currently playing their best season in franchise history with a record of 34-16-1-3. The team is also currently in first place in both the Western Conference and West Division.

The Flint Firebirds will return to the ice for three games this week, two of which, are home games at the Dort Financial Center. This week's games are as follows:

  • Friday, March 18th vs. the Soo Greyhounds at 7 pm at Dort Financial Center
  • Saturday, March 19th vs. the Windsor Spitfires at 7 pm at Dort Financial Center
  • Sunday, March 20th vs. the Windsor Spitfires at 4:05 pm at WFCU Centre

Last week, it was announced that the president of the Flint Firebirds organization was expelled from the Ontario Hockey League. In the announcement on Thursday, March 10th, 2022, it was stated that then-president Terry Christensen was expelled after an investigation concluded that his conduct was 'prejudicial to the welfare of the league. This announcement was made by the commissioner of the Ontario Hockey League, David Branch.

According to the Ontario Hockey League, Christensen made remarks that violated the OHL's Harassment and Abuse / Diversity Policy. Christensen was first suspended by the Ontario Hockey League on March 5th, 2022, pending an investigation into an allegation made through the league's player communications system. The complaints that sparked the investigation and suspension of Christensen were made on February 20th, 2022.
