Ontario Hockey League Following Policy
The OHL adheres to a rigid protocol regarding COVID-19, including mandatory testing for all players and staff in the league.
In accordance with privacy policies, neither the Firebirds organization nor the OHL will identify which players have tested positive for the disease.
Most Players Asymptomatic
According to a statement posted on the Firebirds' website, all players and staff members are currently either asymptomatic or exhibiting mild symptoms. The league says the team will continue to monitor their well-being.
What Firebirds Games Are Canceled?
The Firebirds were scheduled to play two away games this weekend:
- Friday, December 17 – Flint Firebirds at Sarnia Sting

This weekend's games were the last scheduled games before going on hiatus for the Christmas holiday. The next scheduled game is on Wednesday, December 29, 2021. OHL officials say that game is still tentatively scheduled but note that a final decision will be made closer to that date.
The Ontario Hockey League will provide an update regarding future games and updates regarding rescheduling of this weekend's games as more information becomes available.
