Too early to talk about winter? Maybe, since Michigan still has a good chunk of summer left and parts of the country are sweating it out with record-breaking high temperatures, but the ''cold" hard fact is the season of chill is just around the corner.

Since 1818 the Farmers' Almanac has been the 'Weather Bible' with its annual publication. The Farmers' Almanac released its extended forecast this week, and Michiganders may want to start booking those warm weather getaways now if the forecast is on point.

The 208th edition of the Farmer's Almanac is summing up the upcoming 2024-2025 winter season as "Wet Winter Whirlwind".

"Taking into account the effect La Niña has on the weather, along with our long-standing formula, we anticipate the winter of 2024-25 will be wet and cold for most locations", the Farmers Almanac said.

What Does the Farmers' Almanac Predict for Michigan's Winter 2024-2025?

Get ready to bundle up, Michiganders! The Farmers' Almanac has spoken and it looks like we're in for a doozy. According to the time-honored publication, Michigan can expect a winter that's colder, wetter, and snowier than usual. "Above-average precipitation is expected over the eastern third of the country, especially the Great Lakes, Ohio Valley, and Midwest", FA said.

It looks like the cold wet blast could arrive sooner than later too.

"The Great Lakes, Ohio Valley, and Midwest region (Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin) can expect periods of wet snow and rain to begin in early November, with "frigidly cold" temperatures through Nov. 11. Rain and wet snow continues to Thanksgiving, with a drier forecast toward the end of the year", Farmers' Almanac Editor Sandi Duncan told USA TODAY."January looks like when the Big Freeze may be on for that area".

The new forecast indicated that the coldest outbreak of the season will come during the final week of January into the beginning of February. During that time the whole country will feel a child, but Michigan will see cold air blowing across the Great Lakes, heavy snow showers, and snow storms along with "intense bursts of snow".
