Don’t Look At The Sun! Solar Eclipse Tonight
Just three weeks ago, we were able to see a lunar eclipse. This afternoon, get ready for a solar eclipse, as the sun sets! How cool is that?
Our friends at Longway Planetarium tell us that it should all start around 5:40pm today (Thursday). In the west-southwest sky, the Moon will start to pass in front of the Sun. Sunset is about 6:48pm. So we'll only get to see the beginning of the partial eclipse. The further west you are the better.
But, much like obvious warnings, like don't dump boiling water on yourself, DO NOT look at the sun without proper eye protection. Eclipse glasses are available in the gift shop at Longway Planetarium.
