DIY: How To Dress Up an Old Mirror That You Can’t Get Off the Wall
Our half-bath has needed some TLC for a LONG time, and I finally figured out what to do with the mirror.
A couple of years ago, I remodeled my upstairs bathroom - new paint, faucet, mirror, lighting, etc. And I did it by using YouTube tutorials. Once I figured out that I could do it myself, I had a goal to finish the other bathrooms in the house.
The downstairs bathroom needed a new faucet, mirror and light fixture. However, from personal experience, I knew that taking the mirror off the wall would involve paint, glue removal and possible drywall, so I went a different route.
First, I did the faucet and the light fixture (thank you, President's Day sales!).
But the mirror - what to do, what to do?
I looked up some websites that make custom mirror frames, and they were a bit pricey. Per the advice of our Facebook brigade, I went to Hobby Lobby and bought stretcher strips. They're basically pieces of a frame that you can make yourself. Then, I painted them white. All for less than $20.
I fitted the pieces together and used liquid nails to attach them to the mirror.
Super happy with the results! I can't recommend this enough. If you need to dress up an old mirror, try it!
