Ever wanted to take your dog out to dinner? In California, you can. Legally.

In California, the governor has just passed a law that your dog can dine with you on a restaurant patio. Legally. Of course, much like conceal & carry laws, restaurants can decide whether or not this is right for them, so the law can't demand that a restaurant allow your dog to dine with you.

The law, which goes into effect in January of 2015, protects restaurant owners from lawsuits, as long as health codes are observed.

"'I wish everyone ‘bone-appétit,'" said Assemblywoman Mariko Yamada, the author of the law. "Restaurateurs in California will see more businesses catering to their customers and the canine companions they love.”
