Surprise, mother*******...

Dexter fans have either been waiting or not waiting for this follow-up. Regardless, here it comes - Mr. Morgan will be back on Showtime next year. According to

The premium cable network has handed the series a 10-part run that is set to go into production in early 2021 with a tentative premiere date of fall 2021.

If you're a lifelong fan of the show like me, you probably disliked the way the show ended back in 2013 but couldn't come up with an ending yourself that would've suited your entertainment needs. So, will we really enjoy the reboot? Or will we just shred it to pieces?

I'm gonna go with the first option, and here's why:

It's almost comical; every time they bring something back unless it's just a taste, we love to hate it. Arrested Development, Roseanne, Will & Grace, just to name a few. Not everybody hated them, of course. But the people who did were looking for something that, in my opinion, can never be found again.

A perfect example of this would be the text that my sister just sent me. I don't think she'll even give it a chance to survive.

I'm going to separate my opinions of the original Dexter from my opinion of the reboot and just ENJOY IT.

Let's be honest - the original series, which ran from 2006-2013, wasn't Shakespeare. In fact, to a point, it was preposterous and highlighted some absolutely awful human beings. But, just like anything else, we were invested. The only show I've ever ditched and refused to finish was True Blood. The rest? I followed them down a cliff, all the way to the bottom.

Fellow Dexter fans - let's hope that they keep the original theme song; we already know that the most important character will be played by the original actor, so what more can we ask for?

In a perfect world, they'd bring back Doakes...

...but that would be a SURPRISE, MOTHER*******!
