And that's how you serve up a victory! A popular Detroit chef has cooked his way straight through to win on the Food Network.

Chef Omar Anani, knowns for his culinary talents at his acclaimed Moroccan bistro Saffron De Twah, took this top spot on an episode of Food Networks' popular Chopped: All American Showdown.

For his appearance on Chopped: All American Showdown, Anani was part of a group of 16 chefs from around the U.S. Each chef competed in their respective regions: North, South, East, and West.

Anani secured a win for his region showing off his skills cooking three amazing dishes; fried lake perch with sautéed corn salad, goat meatballs with pizza sauce potatoes, and finished with a chocolate-peanut butter mahalabia with pita chip gremolata.

Anani, who has been nominated twice for a James Beard Award, will now compete against the three other regional winners of the South, East, and West regions. The four chefs will have a showdown in the tournament finale, scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 8 at 8:00 pm., for a chance to win the Grand Prize of $50,000.

For those unfamiliar with the Chopped franchise, contestants are given a secret basket of ingredients for each challenge. The baskets are filled with obscure and unusual ingredients that aren't traditionally used together. A new basket is introduced for each of the three challenges starting with an appetizer/first course, main course/entree, and finishing with dessert.

Chopped can be seen on the Food Network channel Tuesday nights at 8:00 pm.
