Delilah, whose nightly request and dedication show is heard every weeknight here on Cars 108, opened up to Good Morning America's Robin Roberts about her son's death and more.

Her new book, 'One Heart at a Time,' talks about how she dealt with Zack's suicide one year ago this month. Delilah tells Roberts that she struggled in the beginning, looking for a way to tell the story.

"The publishers ... talked to my sister," about her writer's block, she said. "And she said, 'I'll help. You know, I'll step in and help,' and I'm like, 'Oh, no, no, no, no. Nobody's telling Zack's story but me.'"

Delilah went on to say how important it is that we work to educate ourselves and do what we can to prevent teenage suicide.

"And we need to start having open conversations as painful as they are," she said. "Because it's epidemic."

Delilah's new book, 'One Heart at a Time' comes out today. You can read an excerpt from it here.
