What If Davison Had a Trolley Like Fenton?
Imagine being able to hop on a trolley in Davison to get to work, a doctor’s appointment, or even just downtown for dinner, without touching your car keys. That’s the conversation starting to take shape right now as city leaders look at whether a trolley system could work here.

They’re not guessing in the dark either. Just down the road, Fenton and Linden have already shown what this kind of setup can look like. In Fenton, the trolley has been rolling for three years now, offering free rides Thursday through Saturday, late morning through late evening, from May into December. It’s simple, it’s predictable, and people actually use it.
Why Fenton’s Trolley Actually Works
And not just a handful of people. During the busiest months, around 1,500 riders climb aboard. That’s folks heading to appointments, getting to work, or just moving around town without needing a second car. Stops are placed right where people live, including apartment complexes and neighborhoods, which makes a huge difference if driving isn’t an option.

There’s also something quietly smart about the timing. Younger people are driving less, whether by choice or necessity, and the trolley fills that gap. It gives them independence without the expense of owning a vehicle. During the holidays, the trolleys even turn into a moving front-row seat for Christmas light tours, which has become a bit of a seasonal favorite.
Where Davison Goes From Here
According to WJRT, Davison isn’t there yet. The idea is still early, and city officials plan to sit down with the Mass Transportation Authority in February to talk through whether this is realistic and how it might work here.
But the question is on the table now. And sometimes that’s how meaningful changes start, with a simple thought: what if getting around town was just a little easier for everyone?
