David Bowie’s 5 Most Iconic Michigan Moments

The Fisher Theater in Detroit was the first time David Bowie played in Michigan during the 1972 Ziggy Stardust tour.

The city of Detroit and the aftermath of the 1967 riots became inspiration for a song on Bowie's 'Aladdin Sane' album. 'Panic in Detroit' also sprang from the memories of Michigan musician Iggy Pop and the revolutionaries in Michigan Iggy knew growing up.

According to MotorCityMusicArchives.com, Bowie's 1973 tour included an incredible 6 night stand at the Michigan Place Theater in downtown Detroit from October 15-20.

Bowie's 1976 Isolar Tour included a stop at Kalamazoo's Wings Stadium. The 15 song setlist included Station to Station, Suffragette City, a cover of Iggy Pop's Sister Midnight, Panic in Detroit, Fame, Changes and Rebel Rebel.

2004's A Realty Tour was, according to Setlist.fm, the final Michigan performance for David Bowie. The night was a 32 song epic sweep through Bowie's catalog with an encore that closed with Ziggy Stardust.
