You’ve probably heard about longtime Detroit Tigers radio broadcaster Dan Dickerson’s slip of the tongue when he muttered, “F--- this game recap,” into a hot mic. But it wasn’t just a slip; he was summing up the mood and frustration of an entire fan base.

Because let’s be honest, Dickerson just said what every Tigers fan has probably said (in one form or another) under their breath at least once this season.

Tigers’ Marathon ALDS Game Ends in Heartbreak

Dickerson’s hot-mic moment happened Friday after the Tigers were eliminated from playoff contention following another tough loss. But it wasn’t just any loss. The Tigers forced a fifth game in the ALDS against the Seattle Mariners and battled for 15 innings, the longest game in MLB postseason history, before finally falling 3-2.

Sure, Dickerson's on-air gaffe included language that you probably wouldn't want your grandmother to hear, but you can probably understand why he was in no mood to do a game recap, right?

Dickerson, who succeeded legendary Tigers broadcaster Ernie Harwell in 2003, perfectly captured the sentiment of every Tigers fan after 15 innings of emotional highs and lows:

“I don't have to do a game ... oh f---. F--- this game recap,” he muttered, realizing his microphone was still on. "Oh, I'm sorry, was that out loud?"

Fans Relate to the Broadcaster’s Frustration

I hope I'm speaking on behalf of Tigers fans all across the state when I say, "We forgive you, Dan." For the most part, social media support has been strong for Dickerson, with many fans showing their support.

It's NSFW, but you can listen to the clip below.

The longtime Tigers broadcaster has since apologized for the slip, telling the Detroit Free Press,

“I want to sincerely apologize for swearing during a break in the post-game last night,” Dickerson said. “Our mics were inadvertently left open — but I know better than to swear into an open mic. It was said in a moment of frustration, and not a reflection about how I feel about doing the game recap — just how I felt about doing it in that moment after a five hour, 15 inning, season-ending loss. I'm very sorry any fans had to hear it — my apologies again.”

Detroit's Historic Bishop Mansion Up for Auction

This massive, 32,000-square-foot mansion in Detroit's Palmer Woods District was built about 100 years ago.

It's not only served as the primary residence for Archbishops of the Archdiocese of Detroit, but it has also been owned by Detroit Pistons star John Salley.
