Crust in Fenton To Host Suicide Awareness Day
Hearing anyone has taken their life touches your heart, but when it's someone you know and love, it crushes it.
Crust in Fenton has felt the heartache of losing one of their own employees recently to suicide. As they heal, they have planned a special Suicide Awareness Day to honor and remember him.
The event is planned for Tuesday, April 27th. That day you will have the option to round up your purchase with all proceeds then going to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. They will also be accepting donations at both the restaurant and bakery.
According to their Facebook page, Crust planned the event with a sole purpose in mind.
"We hope to remember those affected by suicide, to raise awareness, and to focus efforts on directing treatment to those who need it most."
According to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the U.S. In 2019 there were 1.38 million individuals who attempted suicide in this country. In a recent interview, Michelle Crang of Genesee Health System told us there has been increase in suicides among young people during the pandemic.
