A prisoner convicted of multiple murders in Michigan is at large after escaping from the Ionia Correctional Facility Sunday night. Michael Elliot has been serving a life sentence after his 1994 conviction, and authorities now believe he has fled to Indiana.

Elliot abducted an Ionia woman with a knife or box cutter, then forced her to drive. She escaped and called police when they stopped for gas near Elkhart, Indiana. Elliot is a white male, and is reported to be 40 years old, 5' 8" tall, 165 pounds, and has brown hair and brown eyes.

As of Monday (2/3) morning, the search for Elliot has become nationwide.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call 911.
