Flint Corrections Officer Volunteers in COVID-19 Unit – The Good News
Another person who was already helping, and decided to help some more.
Flint native Brandon McGaffigan is an officer with the Michigan Department of Corrections. Recently, he and his coworkers were asked if any of them would temporarily volunteer to work in a facility that houses prisoners who have COVID-19.
Brandon doesn't have any kids and isn't married, so he tossed his name in the hat. He's now working at Brighton Green Oaks Facility and living in a hotel. He wanted to keep officers who have families at home safe from the virus; prisoners were transferred last Friday.
He is planning on being there for at least two months and told WNEM that MDOC is providing them and the healthcare workers at the prison with PPE.
Bless your heart, Brandon. Thank you for all you do. And tell your dad that we still love our invisible pet fence.
