Consumers Asks Michiganders to Turn Thermostat Up to 78
This...THIS is why we have online commenting sections.
In light of the heat wave affecting much of the Midwest this week, including Michigan, Consumers Energy is asking its customers to set their thermostats to 78 degrees.
With temperatures soaring into the high 90s this week and lows only in the mid 70s, Consumers is trying to avoid power outages and save us money. At least, that's what they're claiming.
I'm gonna go with the theory that their systems can't handle us all using our A/C for a week straight. Based on how much my bill was that I paid yesterday, I'm gonna call BS on these shenanigans. If it was a free service that we had to ration, okay. But C'MON!! 78 is the temp where I say, "Wow I should turn the A/C on."
