If you're a fan of cheeseburgers, there's a delightful festival taking place in the tip of Michigan's Thumb — and it's calling your name! The 27th annual Cheeseburger in Caseville Festival is now underway.

A Small Town with a Big Appetite

The 10-day event kicked off yesterday and will run through next Sunday (August 17, 2025). While Caseville is a small Michigan town with only about 700 year-round residents, crowds can swell to 50,000 during this beloved celebration.

The Heart Behind the Festival

Caseville Chamber of Commerce President Steve Louwers has been involved with the festival since its inception. He’s happy with the attendance and community involvement over the years:

It's a great family festival, you know, and that's why I take a lot of pride in it. I've been involved with this for, well, really 27 years, but I've been in charge for 22 — and I turned it into, without a doubt, the best family festival in the state of Michigan. We have anywhere from 40 to 50 kids' events taking place in 10 days. We've got softball tournaments, wellness clinics, 5K runs… so we're healthy too.

Burgers Worth Traveling For

Around 20 different vendors are set up all over town competing for the coveted title of “Best Cheeseburger.” With unique toppings and flavor combinations each year, past winners have been irresistible to burger lovers.

In addition to the cheeseburger competition and other festivities, the Parade of Fools will happen Wednesday, featuring one of the longest summer parades in Michigan.

Sunsets on Lake Huron

When you’re done indulging, you can soak in Michigan’s natural beauty — Caseville sits right on Lake Huron, making it the perfect spot to catch a sunset to top off your visit.
