As Karen Suffern anticipates the holidays, the single mother realizes the financial strain it will bring to her struggling family. That in mind, Suffern encouraged her twins, who have just begun third grade, to write letters to Santa. She had hoped to get an idea how much to budget for gifts.

What she got was tears, as she discovered what had been happening in school.

Ryan's letter started off as any 8-year old's would, then quickly changed directions.

"Dear Santa ... I wanted a (remote control) car and helicopter, but I don't want that anymor. Kid at school are still picking on Amber and its not fair," he wrote. "I prayed that they will stop but god is bisy and needs your help." [sic]

Suffern tells CNN that her daughter has attention-deficit (hyperactivity) disorder, and is an emotional eater. At 140 pounds, her weight is nearly double that of her brother's. She says she plans to speak to her children's teachers, and the parents of those that are bullying Amber.

"If my kids don't call names and pick on others, I would expect other parents to teach their kids to be respectful, too."
