‘Blessing Boxes’ Left on Corners in Northwest Detroit – The Good News
More good samaritans doing wonderful things for complete strangers in Michigan.
28-year-old Shardia Simpson saw caution tape blocking off a park near her mom's apartment and it dawned on her - this pandemic is serious and she needs to do something to help.
So, she and her husband started putting together "Blessing Boxes" to leave around town. They're brown ACE Hardware boxes with a Bible verse on the outside and a balloon tied to the top. Inside the boxes are multiple care packages that contain everything from non-perishable foods to hand sanitizer.
Shardia told the Detroit Free Press that she views this as "planting seeds. We place them where we feel they are needed the most, or in a neighborhood that means something to us, in hopes that it will help someone grow."
She's been leaving the boxes on corners all over northwest Detroit for people who need them.
