Fried pickle chips? Or fried pickle spears?
This is about to sound pretentious, but it's just experience.
- Rarely does a fried pickle spear satisfy your craving the way a fried pickle chip does. Spears are thicker. So, the frying process gets them hot and crispy on the outside.
- But rarely does a fried pickle spear do anything but fly out of the breading when you take a bite. Or the breading just falls off leaving you with a hot pickle. (Insert jokes here.)
- Not all fried pickle spears are bad. That's why several made our list. (Only one spear-type made it in the Top 5.)
Here's what makes the best fried pickle chips.
- They're thinly sliced with just the right amount of batter.
- It's almost like a crispy potato chip. Lightweight, full of flavor and crunchy.
Of course, these can be over-battered or cut too thick... which makes our #1 pick better than the rest.
