Rest in peace, iTunes. You were the future-changing invention of an entire generation of music.

Apple announced at their Worldwide Digital Conference that they will be shutting down iTunes with their newest iOS update this fall.

You're probably wondering what the HECK is gonna happen with everything you have stores in iTunes? Just it just disappear into the interwebs? What happens to all of my purchases?

The short answer? Don't lose sleep over it. According to a press release from Apple, “Users will have access to their entire music library, whether they downloaded the songs, purchased them or ripped them from a CD.”

It's important to remember, however, that we don't "own" any of the files that we purchased. We bought the RIGHTS to watch or listen to said media while it remains on a certain platform.
