Actor/Former Detroit Lions Great Alex Karras Near Death [VIDEO]

Alex Karras is under hospice care at his home in California. Alex is suffering from kidney failure. Karras has dealt with numerous health setbacks of late, including a battle with dementia.

Karras was one of the NFL's most dominant players from 1958-1970.  That period includes 1963 when he was suspended for a year after a gambling investigation. Karras appeared in numerous movies and TV shows, including a starring role in the ABC sitcom 'Webster'.

Movie buffs will never forget the scene from 'Blazing Saddles' in which he knocked out a horse with one punch.
