ABC Cancels ‘Roseanne’ After Star’s Racist Rant on Twitter
I have very mixed emotions. I'm definitely bummed that Roseanne won't be back for an 11th season. But I can't -- and I say this with absolute resolve -- I cannot support racism. Period.
ABC has announced that it is canceling Roseanne after its hit sitcom's namesake went on a racist Twitter rant, making fun of White House Adviser Valerie Jarrett. Her now-deleted tweet read "muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj."
ABC President Channing Dungey said Barr's tweet was "abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values."
Barr's apology was too little, too late.
Sara Gilbert, who plays Darlene on the ill-fated sitcom expressed her displeasure on Twitter.
