The woman who sued her 12-year-old nephew for $127,000 speaks out...with him at her side.

Jennifer Connell became famous online this week, but not in a good way. She sued her 12-year-old nephew for an injury she sustained four years ago after he hugged her and knocked her over.

She lost the lawsuit, but told Today that she only sued so she could get the insurance claim paid. "This was simply a case of formality with an insurance claim," she said. "I said at the start of this, 'I don't understand why. I don't want to sue Sean."

Speaking of Sean, he appeared with her on the show, saying that "I love her and she loves me." Her family didn't vilify her for the lawsuit, and she also didn't say that she regrets it.

"I am just confused," the 54-year-old said. "I just feel that perhaps it's the way the legal system is set up, so the insurance companies aren't necessarily in the spotlight for stepping up and taking responsibilities for handling claims [on] properties."

Interesting twist and turn on this story. Thinking back on it, I realized that her family never spoke out against her. But this is still a gross waste of time in our courts. I'd love to think that the legal/insurance process would be changed because of this, but I know it won't.
