300 Flint Kids Get New Shoes In Honor of Fallen Soldier – The Good News
The shoes were a donation from the Andrew Clayton Foundation.
Almost 300 students at Durant-Tuuri-Mott Elementary School received brand new shoes last week as part of a donation by the foundation, which is named after Waterford native Andrew Clayton Berg.
He worked quite a bit in Flint before his deployment and died at his North Carolina home in 2017 while serving in the Army.
The kids came in five at a time and were fitted for shoes. The donation was actually a surprise to the school - the foundation donated about $3,000 worth of shoes.
Nick Berg is the president of the foundation and is Andrew's brother. He said that his brother loved shoes, which is why he decided to make this donation.
