It was a case of a hacker getting control of a TV stations Emergency Alert System message. The alert signal sounded and a message claiming that "the bodies of the dead are rising from their graves and attacking the living." Yup, you guessed it, The Emergency Alert System was announcing zombie attack.

I don't know if you remember the show, but when I was a kid I never missed Mr. Wizard. It survived long enough to have a version on Nickelodian called "Mr. Wizards World".  Mr. Wizard was very smart with tons of information, but he did come across as a bit arrogant and sometimes downright mean to the kids. With the popularity of the new TV's, comes the challenge of mounting them on the wall. For years, TV's were stand alone furniture, but now the flat-screens just beg to be mounted on the wall, or over the fireplace. I just mounted my new 42-inch model and here are some tips to help you with yours.

For the first time in 40 years, the number of households with TV sets has actually dropped, despite the fact that the number of US households in general has continued to grow.

Don't have a cow, man! Life in Springfield for "The Simpsons" will go on, at least for a 24th and 25th season. After a particularly heated and very public battle, the Fox network and 20th Century Fox have come to an agreement with the series' voice actors.

Things in Springfield may come to an abrupt halt, regardless of whether the current contract dispute with its voice actors is resolved. Now Fox officials are saying that even if the actors acquiesce, and agree to the pay cut, next year (season 24) will be the series' last.       In other words:

Blockbuster quickly moved in for the kill, and is now offering angry Netflix customers a competitively-priced alternative plan. Netflix announced Tuesday that it plans to separate DVD service from its streaming service, thereby raising rates for customers that want both, by about 60%.  (Read my rant, and details of the new pricing structure here.)

Conan O'Brien four, Jay Leno Zero. O'Brien, whose late night variety has only been on TBS since November, scored four Emmy award nominations, including outstanding variety, music or comedy series, as well as nominations for best writing and lighting. Rival Jay Leno, who knocked Conan out as host of NBC's "Tonight Show" received none.

If you're a Netflix customer, you probably received an email similar to the one I got yesterday. In essence, the California company is restructuring its services, separating streaming and DVD movie rentals into two different plans, and significantly raising the price for those of us who want both.
