Ding ding. ‘The Voice‘ vs. ‘X Factor‘ battle has officially begun, a week before the season premieres and the ratings books. ‘The Voice’ is strategically attempting to win Round 1 by adding an extra episode of Season 3 during the premiere week on Wednesday, Sept. 12, which is the same day that Season 2 of ‘X Factor’ premieres. That move has got Simon Cowell fighting mad.
Mariah Carey and her pals in Maybach Music Group helped kick off the NFL season last night (Sept. 5) in New York City. Mimi performed her new single ‘Triumphant’ in Rockefeller Center as the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys suited up across the river in New Jersey for the first game of the season. But our gal was “fashionably late.” Wait, what?
Taylor Swift has donated a pair of shiny red Bloch brand ballet flats to Soles4Souls, an international shoe charity. Not only are the shoes as adorable and as fashionable as Dorothy’s from ‘The Wizard of Oz,’ but the ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together’ singer also autographed the inside soles of the shoes, and with a heart. So whoever bids on and wins the shoes might not want to wear them, so as not to smear or smudge Swift’s John Hancock!
Judy Blume, author of many popular children’s books from the 1970s, revealed that she has been privately battling breast cancer since June. She shared the news on her blog, via a humorously written post titled ‘!@#$% Happens.’
Few things are as aggravating as screaming children on cross-country flights, or the ones who remain quiet all the while booting your chair with rhythmic incessancy. A couple with 14 week old twin boys was more than aware of this fact and as a pre-emptive measure when flying cross-country from San Francisco, they handed out plastic bags of candy to fellow passengers to placate them in anticipation of the infants crying, screaming or causing other annoyances.
There can only be ONE One Direction! Over the summer, a battle was enacted between the U.K. One Direction and the U.S. One Direction over rights to the name. We’re happy to report that the U.K. version has won and gets to keep their name.
It seems like everyone who’s anyone in pop and country music is in the running for the vacant judge posts on ‘American Idol.’ Diva Mariah Carey is the only judge firmly in place, as sole OG judge Randy “In It to Win It” Jackson’s future remains up in the air, dawg.
John Mayer‘s got a lot going on right now. The singer had surgery last week and is now musically silenced for the next six months. He is not able to sing while he recovers from surgery to remove a granuloma from his vocal cords. He was, however, spotted with reported ex Katy Perry over the weekend, as well. Never a dull moment on Planet Mayer.
Katy Perry is the face of Popchips, and the ‘Wide Awake’ singer is also an investor, so she stars in the new fall ad campaign for the light snack. The ads are colorful, with green, blue and red backgrounds, and they are pun-driven. Doesn’t Perry look thrilled to be a part of the Popchips team?
Justin Bieber continues to add to his tattoo collection. After getting a ‘Believe’ tattoo when his album dropped in June — not to mention getting all sorts of guff from David Letterman about inking his body while a couch guest on the show — and a music symbol in the summer, the Biebs has added a crown on his chest.
The cameras of photographer Terry Richardson absolutely love Lady Gaga. Days after posting images of the Mother Monster looking like a bird-superhero hybrid in feathers and a cape while perched outside the Chanel boutique, the snapper shared a ton of images of the ‘Marry the Night’ singer while backstage, getting her makeup done, posing with little monsters, stretching before the show and wearing turbans.
