The stars from Canada recently pulled together to not only make a difference, but pay homage to one the greats in music. Our friends to the north have released a beautiful tribute to the late  Bill Whithers with a powerful rendition of 'Lean on Me' all to benefit the Canadian Emergencies and COVID-19 Response Fund.

About 25 Canadian artists joined in on the single including Avril Lavigne, Bryan Adams, Geddy Lee of Rush,  Jann Arden, Justin Bieber, Michael Bublé, Sarah McLachlan, Serena Ryder and Walk Off The Earth, under the collective banner ArtistsCAN. The star studded tribute was produced by Jon Levine (Philosopher Kings) and even included a cameo by former Detroit Red Wing Steve Yzerman.

The emotional video begins with a heartfelt message to the late Bill Withers who passed away just last month. It was Toronto-based singer-songwriter Tyler Shaw who immediately felt the urge to cover Withers’ 1972 hit and spearheaded the project. Shaw said, “When I heard of Bill Withers’ passing, I was listening to all his legendary music and I really dove into the lyrics of Lean On Me — a song I’ve heard hundreds of times. In this current climate, the lyrics seem more profound than ever. I wanted to cover it; I wanted to help.”

It was just last month that Gal Gadot, star of "Wonder Woman", enlisted the help of her famous friends to sing John Lennon's "Imagine" as a way to boost morale amid coronavirus quarantines in the U.S. and around the world.
