It's Pat Sajak's final week as host of 'Wheel of Fortune' and a Northern Michigan man says he was one of a few contestants hand-picked to appear on the show.

David Livermore is a teacher's aide for Engadine Consolidated Schools. The Mackinac County resident tells Up North Live that he served in the US Army for 20 years before moving back to Northern Michigan.

Of course, Livermore used his hands to show Sajak where he's from! Check out the video below.

Livermore applied to be a spinner on the iconic gameshow last year while he was looking for work.

Upper Peninsula Proud

Livermore is a resident of Garnet, Michigan, a small town located about 40 miles northwest of the Mackinac Bridge. He tells TV6 that he hopes to to a good job representing the Upper Peninsula.

“Without saying how I did, I’m hoping that I made the U.P. proud,” said Livermore. “I’m like, ‘man, I’ve got the U.P. on my back on national TV... I can’t screw this up.’”

Contestants are forbidden from sharing how they performed on the show or how much money they won before the episode airs.

Pat Sajak's Last Week Before Retirement

Pat Sajak made the announcement about a year ago that he will be stepping down as Wheel's host after 41 seasons. This week (June 3 - June 7) will be Sajak's last as host of the long running show.

But don't worry about Sajak's future - he already has another job to tend to after retirement, and it's right here in Michigan.

He has been chairman of the board of Hillsdale College since 2019 and served as vice chairman between 2003 and 2019. Hillsdale is about 30 miles south of Jackson.
