Well, well, well. Look who has a wild side. I'll have to admit, I didn't have this revelation on my bingo card for this year, but then again, who did? One of Michigan's top summer tourist destinations has been named one of “The Top 10 Wildest Cities in the U.S.” and picked up an interesting title along the way.
The sports betting community site OLBG took a walk on the wild side and searched out those cities across the country that "have a reputation for being wild when it comes to partying". According to the site, OLBG looked at the number of casinos and strip clubs, marijuana, and cocaine prevalence, plus more factors to reveal the wildest cities in the U.S. Some may seem like a no-brainer, but there's always a plot twist.
Coming in at #3 was none other than Michigan's northern summertime favorite Traverse City., Now granted, as tourists and vacationers we may only see the "good side" of TC, but wild? Didn't see that one coming.
"Completing this top three list of the wildest US cities is Traverse City, Michigan. This city is renowned for its vineyards and wineries and this makes it less surprising that 23% of the residents here drink heavily. Some of the other factors that make up Traverse City’s 7.71 /10 overall score are the 12.76 strip clubs per 100,000 residents, and the fact that 65.8% of people here have taken marijuana", the site wrote.
Just to take it up a notch, Traverse City captured the 'Cocaine Capital' title with the city being ranked No. 1, with 23.8% of its population of 15,675 having taken the drug, according to OLBG.
Because Michigan is always looking to over-achiever, Grand Rapids took the #10 spot with an overall score of 6.04/10. Reno, Nevada took top honors as the "Wildest City". Watch out Reno...Traverse City is coming for ya.
