Police: Two Dead, 15 Hospitalized After Fatal Shooting at Saginaw Street Party
Two people are dead and more than a dozen others have been injured after a mass shooting at a street party in Saginaw.
The incident occurred Friday night (6/23) near the area of Fourth Ave. and Johnson St. on the city's east side. Michigan State Police say approximately 200 partygoers were present at the gathering which was heavily promoted on social media. The party had moved several times throughout the night as police agencies throughout Saginaw had to disperse the crowd from several locations.
Gunfire then broke out shortly after midnight, early Saturday morning.
Two People Died in the Incident
Police say a 19-year-old man and a 51-year-old woman have died. The victims' names have not yet been released. In addition, 15 more people were transported to local hospitals for treatment.
At Least Five Weapons Involved
According to the Michigan State Police, investigators believe that a fight between partygoers broke out and that led to the initial gunfire.
"In response, others in the crowd began shooting into the crowd, striking several victims," The Michigan State Police Department said in a press release. "As people fled the scene, many were injured after being struck by fleeing vehicles. Detectives later determined at least five different caliber weapons were used in the incident."

Ongoing Investigation
Although police have no suspects in custody, they say there is no ongoing threat to the public.
