Flushing Community Schools took to Facebook and their website tonight to release a statement addressing a online threat to a high school staff member.

The statement issued by Superintendent Tim Stein states the school district was made aware of an online discussion between students involving a threat made against a high school staff member outside of school.  The district goes on to say that the Flushing Township Police were immediately contacted, the individuals involved were taken into custody. The police are currently investigating the credibility of the threat.

The district was quick to thank the individuals that reported the threat to the school, and that such threats and behavior would not be tolerated.  The district also assured parents and students that measures have been taken to provide a safe learning environment.

Flushing schools were already scheduled to be closed tomorrow prior to the incident. You can read the full statement here.
