These Unsolved Michigan Homicides Have Been on the Books for More Than 25 Years
Homicides aren't solved in an expedient manner like they are on TV. We seem to have become accustomed to figuring out who the bad guy is and seeing him in cuffs all in the span of about 46 minutes. Unfortunately, that's not the norm and not the case for the 15 people you're about to meet below.
We've compiled a comprehensive list of 15 homicides that took place right here in Michigan that date back as far as 1997. A quarter-century is a long time - and an unbearable amount of time for each of these victims' families.
Flint and the Surrounding Areas
We narrowed our search to concentrate primarily on Flint and the Genesee County area.
The oldest unsolved homicide dates back more than 50 years. Patrick West was shot just days before Christmas as a 7-Eleven store in was robbed. West survived for a couple of months but died as a result of his injuries in early 1972.
Crime Stopper Pays for Information
Crime Stoppers typically offers a reward of $2,500 for information leading to the arrest of a responsible party. However, there are exceptions Patrick West's case, which we just highlighted as the longest-running unsolved mystery pays more. According to Crime Stoppers, information leading to the conviction of West's killer could result in a $5,000 payout.
If you have any information on any of these cases, or any case that has gone unsolved, you're asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800.422-JAIL (5425) or visit their website.
