Welcome to the job, Izzy!

Izzy comes from a tough background herself - she was rescued in 2018 from a hoarding situation in Shelby Township. Animal control officers recommended her for the therapy dog program, based on her temperament.

The program started last October and Izzy was just recently sworn in. Let's be honest here - court is a scary place, even for adults. Now, Izzy is on-hand to comfort kids while they're stuck in the middle of a tough situation.

Her handler says that she has a "calming effect" on everybody she comes into contact with. Court officials said that more kids are leaving the courtroom with a smile, and that's all that matters.
