The Good News: Photo of Police Officer and Woman with Dementia Goes Viral [PHOTO]
"We often talk about the rewards of police work. On Friday, we captured a moment."
The Charles County Sheriff's Office in Maryland recently shared a picture of one of its officers, B. Morrison, walking with an elderly woman. And it quickly went viral.
A woman called 911, stating that her mother (who has dementia) had not come back from her daily walk. At that point, according to the Facebook post:
Officers P. DeBoe, C. Caywood, B. Morrison, Sgt. C. Black, and Cpl. C. Clevenger and his K9 partner responded to the scene and began a search of the heavily wooded area.
After a 40-minute search, the woman was found. When they asked her what the secret is to a long life, she said, "Eat good and stay active."
We don't talk about it a lot, but Pat's mom (my mother-in-law) has dementia/alzheimers. It's really an awful thing to watch somebody struggle with. First of all, I'm amazed that she still takes daily walks! And second of all, THANK YOU to our law enforcement for all that you do, and for sharing little moments like this with us. :)
