Hundreds of Tesla Trucks Appear at Michigan Shopping Center, Leaving Locals Scratching Their Heads
Visitors to a Michigan shopping mall were recently met with an unexpected sight: hundreds of Tesla Cybertrucks packed into the parking lot outside a former children’s museum. The sea of stainless steel vehicles left shoppers wondering: What’s going on?
In the video below, you'll see rows of Cybertrucks (and other Tesla models) parked outside a shuttered Bed, Bath, & Beyond in the Hunter's Square Shopping Center located on Orchard Lake Road in Farmington Hills.
Teslas: Love 'Em or Hate 'Em?
Before we go any further, let me just say this: I don’t think I’ve ever seen a more hideous vehicle than the Tesla Cybertruck — and I once proudly drove a Buick Rendezvous. This isn’t political, I swear. The Cybertruck just looks like a prop rejected from a low-budget RoboCop reboot.

What’s Behind the Tesla Cybertruck Takeover?
As bizarre as it looks, there is a reason for the Cybertruck takeover, although it's not exactly thrilling. According to Tesla, the vehicles have been sold and marked for delivery. The owner of the nearby service center also owns the shopping mall, and the mall parking lot is just being used for overflow parking.

However, the city of Farmington Hills isn’t on board. Officials say the site isn’t zoned for vehicle storage and have issued a code violation notice. In other words, Tesla never asked for permission to turn a shopping center into a futuristic truck depot.
City of Farmington Hills Issues Code Violation
A city spokesman issued a statement via Detroit's WDIV-TV:
“The City of Farmington Hills code enforcement office has been in communication with the Hunter’s Square shopping center management to resolve the issue. The enforcement process is being followed and takes time.”
Until the issue is resolved, shoppers in Farmington Hills may need to navigate around a Cybertruck fleet that looks ready to audition for a post-apocalyptic remake of 'Cars.'
