Kristin Sokul is a spokesperson for Gleaners. She tells Detroit's WXYZ-TV that the organization was surprised by the Swift camp's generous donation.

"Not in our wildest dreams would we have expected to hear from Taylor Swift's team," Sokul said. "She just has this generosity of spirit in wanting to take care of others."

Sokul went on to say that the pop icon's generosity comes at a good time, as the organization anticipates helping a lot of families who struggle with food insecurity during the summer months when their children are not in school.

The amount of the donation has not been disclosed but Sokul said the singer's generosity will help thousands of families in the counties that Gleaners serves.
