Three winning tickets will split the record $1.5 Billion Powerball jackpot, but none of the tickets were sold in Michigan. That doesn't mean that a few people in Michigan didn't wake up very happy Thursday morning.
The winner of the largest Powerball prize ever, $590 million, is Gloria C. Mackenzie, 84, of Zephyrhills, Florida. Lottery officials made the announcement in a news conference Wednesday afternoon.
Powerball Mania has hit much of the US, even more locally here in Mid-Michigan since Don Lawson of Lapeer won $337 million back in August. Of the 40 states that participate in the Powerball game no one matched all the numbers for Saturday’s drawing, so the jackpot has jumped up to a whopping $425 million!
