When putting your loved ones on a school bus, have you ever wondered if they made it safely to their destination? Children's commutes to and from school are often overlooked—until now.

One district in Michigan has devised a new plan that will assist parents in tracking their child's safety with constant communication that they can literally monitor.

Michigan's Bay City Public School district is the first to use this technology and are encouraging parents to download the new tracking app called Stop Finder, which makes tracking your students easy.

First step is to download the app, then simply create a profile and you'll start receiving real-time updates on your child's commute to and from school. You can also see the exact time they get picked up and or dropped off, all from your mobile device.

Here's how it works. Each student will receive a bus pass (which is about the size of a standard driver's license). Upon boarding, they'll scan their unique pass on a tablet at the front of the bus.  This will ensure nobody gets on the wrong bus (which has happened mostly with younger riders). It also allows parents to set alerts like letting them know how far the bus is from the actual stop for pickup and drop off. Parents will have the ability to monitor the status of each bus and students in real time.
