OK, so International Dark Sky Week ended on Saturday, and I completely spaced through it. (I didn't even get you a card.)

Take a moment and view this truly stunning video of the Milky Way rising over Tahquamenon Falls, the Lyrid Meteor Shower, and a beautiful northern Michigan sunrise. The time-lapse video was posted on D3 Imagery's Facebook page to promote the importance of dark-sky preservation.

A Dark Sky Prevention area is an area away from metropolitan areas that restricts artificial light. DSP areas are often surrounded by parks or observatories in order to promote astronomy.

There's so much beauty to be found in Michigan -- you just have to know where to look.
