San Francisco Forces Game 7 in NLCS-Detroit Tigers Still Waiting For World Series Opponent
The Detroit Tigers still don't know who they will face in the 2012 World Series. They only know that they will begin the best-of-seven World Championship playoff on Wednesday night in the National League Champion's ballpark. In fact, games one and two of the World Series will be in the National League champion's home field, games three, four and five would be at Comerica Park (providing that a fifth game is needed), and games six and seven (if needed) will go back to the National League champion's ballpark.
Game seven of the National League Championship Series will take place tomorrow night at 7 p.m. Eastern time at AT&T Park in San Francisco. The Giants beat the St. Louis Cardinals 6-1 in game six to force tomorrow night's deciding game seven. Whoever wins gets to play the Tigers.
Rain is forecasted for the San Francisco area tomorrow, so we may have to wait if the game doesn't start on time.
With the Cardinals and Giants going to a game seven, the Tigers should have an advantage with their starting pitching being well rested. Both the Giants and Cardinals have had to use thier best starters to stay alive in the NLCS.
On the other hand, both National League teams have had to play meaningful games right up to the start of the World Series. The Tigers may not see their best pitchers in the first couple of games, but the rest of their team is battle tested and ready to play.
Game 7 of the NLCS is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. on Fox tomorrow (Monday) night.
