Rod Stewart is teaming up with Cheap Trick for a summer tour this year. Kicking off in July the tour will wrap up in Chicago the beginning of fall.

The touring follows Stewart’s latest album, You’re In My Heart: Rod Stewart With The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, which is the career-spanning project that features revamped versions of his classic songs, blends his original vocal tracks with new symphonic arrangements.

This year will prove a busy one for Stewart who will turn 75 on Friday.  In addition to the tour he will continue with his live residency at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. That run will  kicks off March 6th and go through the 21st. After the long tour break, it will resume September 18th through October 10th.

In the meantime, Stewart is dealing with the law. The singer is facing a misdemeanor count of simple battery following an altercation at  a New Year’s Eve party at a Florida resort. Witnesses told police that Stewart’s son Sean pushed a security guard while Rod punched the alleged victim in the ribs area. Neither were arrested and both  were ordered to appear at the Palm Beach County Criminal Justice Complex on February 5th.

The summer tour with Cheap Trick will hit DTE in Clarkston on July 25th. Tickets go on sale January 10th with Live Nation.
