On top of all that, Motown Records—one of the most legendary record companies of all time—was founded in Detroit and named after the Motor City.
Michigan’s Musical Legacy Runs Deep
Let’s face it: naming every musician from Michigan would be nearly impossible. There are legends like The Four Tops, Alice Cooper, Rare Earth, Ted Nugent, and Flint’s own Grand Funk Railroad, along with The Romantics, The White Stripes, and Iggy Pop, all of whom received national and international fame.
