A Florida restaurant has found a unique way to provide health insurance for its employees.

Tony Di Lembo owns the Tropicale Restaurant and Lounge in Palm Springs. He recently learned that almost all of his 100 or so employees had no healthcare insurance. So he implemented a one percent surcharge on each customer's tab.

“When I told the staff, I  mean some of them were crying they were so happy,” Di Lembo tells NBC News.

He says that if anyone objects to the surcharge, it will be removed from the bill with no questions asked. But so far, response to the policy has been very well received by customers.
