You may want to think about a different route for the next few months!

Crews are scheduled to begin repair work today on the I-69 overpass at Irish Road in Davison Township. MDOT, which is partnering with the Genesee County Road Commission, says work includes pavement removal, retaining wall construction, reconstructing a non-motorized path along the east side of Irish Road and power washing to remove soot and bridge painting. The area has had a harsh smell since a December 2013 incident in which a semi crashed through the guardrail. The tanker was carrying thousands of gallons of crude oil that burned.

As far as traffic, there will be lane restrictions and both lanes on northbound Irish Road will be closed down to help move the project along more quickly which is expected to be completed in November.
