Authorities in Northern Michigan say an intoxicated man broke into a stranger’s home and left behind a disgusting scene — defecating in a trash can and smearing feces on the homeowner’s furniture.

How the Break-In Happened

A Prudenville woman awoke around 7 a.m. Saturday (Oct. 4) to find an unknown man inside her home, reportedly without pants and apparently intoxicated.

According to the Roscommon County Sheriff’s Office, the intruder had defecated into a trash can and smeared feces on furniture before fleeing when confronted by the homeowner.

Victim Impact and Aftermath

CBS Detroit reports that when deputies arrived, the suspect had already fled on foot. Deputies later found a man matching the homeowner’s description walking nearby. The 41-year-old Prudenville man was arrested and lodged in the Roscommon County Jail.

The homeowner was not injured, but deputies described the incident as “unusual and disturbing.” This is why keeping your doors locked is always a good idea.
