In the movie Back To The Future Part 2, Marty and Doc travel to the year 2015.  Just a few years before they arrive, it looks like some of the technology we saw in the movie is becoming reality.

For example, Nike auctioned of 150 pair of it's Air Mag in 2011 with proceeds going to the Michael J. Fox Foundation.  If you have a pair of those shoes from the future, now you can buy a hoverboard to go with it.

Mattel has announced that it'll be making the pink hoverboard Marty McFly made infamous in the trilogy.  The Mattel hoverboard doesn't actually hover, but it is a 1:1 replica of the movie version.  It's a definite must have piece for any fan of the movie.  The ad for the hoverboard claims it's movie accurate, and can glide over most surfaces.  But just like in the movie, it doesn't work on water.

Mattel is taking pre-orders for the hoverboard through March 20th and will ship the board during the 2012 holiday season.  However, in a press release, Mattel is very clear that a minimum orders are needed to go into production, since this is such a high-cost item.

The hoverboard only costs $120 and actually comes with a hoverboard scaled for 6-inch action figures too.  You can pre-order the hoverboard for yourself, or your favorite morning traffic guy, right here.
