I can honestly say, I've never taken a hot air balloon ride in my life. I've always wanted to but my fear of heights always gets in the way. However, this summer I promised my girlfriend and son that I would put my fear aside and we would all take a hot air balloon ride together.

I had no idea there were so many places in Michigan that offered hot air balloon rides. What surprised me, even more, is that some even offer rides in the winter, I didn't even know that was possible. Apparently, they can perform even better in cold weather since there is a greater temperature difference to the hot air on the inside, the heavier air on the outside helps the buoyancy of the balloon. I had no idea, you learn something new every day.

Prices vary between each location but on average you'll pay roughly $350 per person. Of course, many companies offer a variety of different packages.

It may seem a little pricy for some but keep in mind, you're paying for an experience that you'll remember for the rest of your life.
