Pepsi is pulling the plug on more than 20 of its pop and beverage flavors after recently halting production at its Detroit plant. The move affects dozens of employees and marks a major shift in the company’s operations, while forcing fans to say goodbye to some of their favorite flavors.

Why Pepsi Shut Down Its Detroit Plant

On July 23, we reported that Pepsi had already stopped manufacturing at its long-running Detroit plant on Mack Avenue. The company kept the warehouse and distribution side open and said it isn’t leaving Detroit entirely; sales and deliveries continue.

Pepsi hasn’t provided a headcount for affected workers or a precise timeline beyond the manufacturing shutdown, but it said it’s supporting impacted employees with pay and benefits. No other Michigan locations are affected.

Pepsi Drops 20+ Pop and Beverage Flavors

Whether you call it pop or soda, Pepsi is dropping nine flavors along with 21 other drinks, according to a report from The Street. The discontinued beverages range from Mtn Dew varieties to Bubly sparkling waters, many of which are now listed on PepsiCo’s website as being available for only a “limited time.”

The Street notes that the “limited time” label indicates these drinks are no longer being manufactured. Remaining stock in Pepsi warehouse facilities will continue to ship to retailers, but once it’s gone, it’s gone.
