Online Bullying Will Be Illegal in Michigan Starting in March
Can't wait to hear from all the people who think it's acceptable to be a terrible person because "it's just the internet."
Former Michigan Governor Rick Snyder signed House Bill 5017 into law right before he left office, stating that cyberbullying and harassment will be illegal in our state starting in March.
So if you have all kinds of bad things to say to people you don't know online, you've got less than two months to do it without consequence. *sacasm*
The short and skinny of it is this: any threats of violence against another person online could be charged as a misdemeanor. Repeated threats or harassment that result in physical harm or death could result in 10-years in prison.
I can't imagine why anybody would be against this. Then again, the people who are against this are probably the biggest bullies themselves.
Be kind, it costs nothing.
